I go by Petrel (among other names you might know), this is my perpetually under construction personal site. I am in my late 20s and use they/she pronouns. I am a Ph.D. candidate in biology, and spend a lot of my time thinking about ecosystems and the creatures that influence them behind the scenes. (Wish I could get more specific than that, but my research is niche and thus makes me easily searchable. Oops!)
I am an artist, digital and otherwise. I've drawn all sorts of things, but in recent years I've been more focused on my own characters and those of my friends. I also am an avid photographer and spend a lot of time looking at things outside.
Why a personal site?
I have a really difficult time using social media these days, for a variety of personal reasons. Despite that, I still miss talking about my interests and keeping up with friends. I hope this is an alternative way for people to get to know me, keep up, and connect. And also it's good creative enrichment.General Interests

My favorite musicians are Sufjan Stevens, Joanna Newsom, and Owen Pallett, especially unreleased rarities in their catalogues. I'm open to many genres, but I do have a place in my heart for sad indie music evidently.

Sitely
I've been coding on and off since 2009, when I wanted to make petpages on Neopets for my art and writing. I'm certainly no expert though despite all that, I mostly spend my time frankensteining together elements of codes I enjoy.
There's a lot of types of layouts I like, from maximalist to minimal, but I do value responsive, accessible layouts. Specifically ones that reduce eye strain, especially as someone prone to headaches.
